Man Fatally Struck by Car While Helping Homeless in Kansas City, Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – In a tragic incident that unfolded on Sunday afternoon, an elderly African American man lost his life after being hit by a car at the intersection of I-635 and N 38th Street in Kansas City, Kansas. The 80-year-old pedestrian had stepped out of his vehicle to offer monetary assistance to a homeless individual when the unfortunate collision occurred around 1:30 p.m. The local authorities arrived promptly at the scene, but sadly the man was pronounced dead upon their arrival.

Robert Richardson, who had conversed with the victim just moments before the accident, shared his account of the incident. Richardson, a homeless man himself, expressed his gratitude towards the deceased gentleman who had offered him a $20 bill, accompanied by the message of Jesus’ love. As the victim began walking away, a loud crash caught Richardson’s attention, and he turned around to witness the devastating impact.

Having encountered the kind-hearted man on two prior occasions, Richardson recalled the selfless acts of kindness he had received. On both occasions, the man had approached him to spread the message of Jesus’ love and offer support. This time, Richardson reciprocated the sentiment by assuring the man that Jesus loved him too, before the tragic accident unfolded.

The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department (KCKPD) is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash. KCKPD spokesperson Tom Tomasic revealed that they have been in contact with the driver involved and will gather all necessary information for further legal proceedings.

The homeless man, Robert Richardson, is a well-known figure in the area, and he expressed his eternal gratitude towards the victim. Richardson described the deceased as someone who dedicated his life to doing God’s work and asked for blessings upon his soul.

The victim was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by KCK police.
