Two people, including a young woman, killed in a tragic car accident in Purandar taluka

On Saturday morning, a devastating accident occurred in Purandar taluka, claiming the lives of two individuals, including a 25-year-old woman. Two others, including an infant, were injured in the collision between their car and a truck. The truck driver, responsible for the accident, fled the scene, prompting a search by the police.

Accident details

The incident took place around 8 am on Saturday in Devdi village on the Kapurhol Saswad road. The victims have been identified as Ganesh Balasaheb Lekawale (28) and Trupti Akshay Jagtap (25). Trupti’s son, Krushna Akshay Jagtap (2), and her relative Prakash Baburao Darekar (50) were also injured in the collision.

Sequence of events

Trupti and her son, along with Darekar, were on their way back home to Pune from her parents’ house. Lekawale, who worked in Hadapsar and was acquainted with the family, had offered them a ride. Unfortunately, tragedy struck when their car was hit by a truck in Devdi village, causing the car to become lodged beneath the truck and resulting in severe injuries to the passengers.

Search for the truck driver

Following the accident, the truck driver fled the scene, leaving the victims in a critical condition. The Saswad police station has launched a search operation to apprehend the truck driver and hold them accountable for their actions.

Additional incident: SUV overturns, injuring four tourists

In a separate incident, four tourists sustained minor injuries when the SUV they were traveling in overturned on the road from Sinhagad Fort to Donje village on Sunday evening.

Details of the SUV accident

The SUV, carrying a total of 12 passengers returning from Sinhagad Fort, experienced a brake failure around 5 pm. As a result, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to collide with a rock face alongside the road, leading to the overturning of the SUV.

Injuries and medical assistance

Out of the 12 passengers, four women sustained minor injuries and were promptly taken to a nearby private hospital for medical treatment.
