Sadly, this is not the first time such a tragedy has occurred in Karachi. In August 2023, a similar incident took place during a wedding ceremony in Orangi Town, resulting in the death of a 12-year-old boy named Umar. This alarming pattern of celebratory gunfire causing innocent lives to be lost demands immediate attention and preventive measures.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police rushed to the scene and discovered the lifeless body of the victim. The body was then transferred to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for necessary medico-legal formalities.

Investigations revealed that Umar, the 12-year-old victim, was a relative of the groom. He was tragically struck by a stray bullet while witnessing fireworks and aerial firing from a rooftop. This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the lethal consequences of irresponsible and dangerous celebratory practices.

It is crucial for authorities to take immediate action to address this issue and enforce strict regulations to curb the reckless use of firearms during celebrations. Such incidents not only claim innocent lives but also inflict immense emotional and psychological trauma on the affected families and the community at large.
