The arrest and seizures were the result of an investigation initiated by the Rhode Island State Police HIDTA Task Force. The investigation targeted an individual believed to be involved in the distribution of Fentanyl. As part of the operation, court-authorized search warrants were executed at two locations in Providence: Cass Street and Tobey Street.

A total of five firearms were seized during the investigation, one of which was determined to be stolen. The firearms confiscated include a Smith and Wesson .32 caliber revolver, a REX 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, a Ruger .38 caliber revolver, a Smith and Wesson 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, and a Bersa .38 caliber semi-automatic pistol. Additionally, several extended magazines were seized. The authorities also discovered approximately 145 grams of Fentanyl, 98 grams of Xylazine, narcotics distribution materials, and $1,300 in United States currency.

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Jeanleary Gomez Alejo of Providence, is facing multiple charges related to narcotics and weapons possession. The narcotics charges include possession of fentanyl in excess of one ounce, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (fentanyl), possession of Xylazine in excess of one ounce, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (Xylazine), and conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substances act. The weapons charges against Alejo include possession of a stolen firearm, possession of firearms while committing controlled substance violations, and large capacity feeding devices prohibited.

Alejo was arraigned at the 6th Division District Court, where he was held without bail and remanded to the ACI (Adult Correctional Institutions) Intake Center.
