Accident – Death – Obituary News : LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — An NBA G League player and his girlfriend are facing murder charges in connection with the killing of a woman who had been reported missing earlier this month, according to Las Vegas Metro Police.

Chance Comanche, 27, and Sakari Harnden, 19, were recently taken into custody in relation to the disappearance of Marayna Rodgers, 23. Rodgers, a medical assistant from Washington state, had been visiting Las Vegas with friends in early December and had not been seen since December 6.

Human remains found in a desert area of Henderson, just outside of Las Vegas, have been identified as those of Rodgers. Las Vegas Metro Police announced on Sunday that Comanche and Harnden are expected to face an open murder charge after detectives determined they were responsible for Rodgers’ murder.

Comanche, a former player for the Stockton Kings, the G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings, was apprehended on Friday by a California FBI Criminal Apprehension Team. He is currently being held at the Sacramento County Jail and is expected to be extradited to Nevada.

Comanche went undrafted after playing basketball at the University of Arizona and had spent the last two seasons with the Stockton Kings. The team released him on Friday, and a team spokesperson declined to comment further on the matter.

According to authorities, Rodgers was out with friends on December 5 and had a pre-arranged meeting with Harnden, who was accompanied by Comanche. Detectives suspected foul play and obtained evidence to arrest both individuals.

Harnden, who was initially believed to be the last person to see Rodgers before her disappearance, was taken into custody in Las Vegas on December 13. She remains in a downtown Las Vegas jail with a bail set at $500,000.

Harnden has been charged with first-degree kidnapping, and according to a criminal complaint, she admitted to holding or detaining Rodgers against her will and without her consent for the purpose of killing her and/or inflicting bodily harm.

The Dock Ellis Foundation, a Las Vegas organization advocating for families of missing and murdered people of color, expressed their condolences to Rodgers’ family and urged the community to continue praying for justice.
