A Kentucky mother, Tiffanie Lucas, age 32, is currently being held on a $2 million bond after she was arrested for the fatal shooting of her two young sons last month. However, Michelle Rice, the stepmother to one of the deceased boys, believes that Lucas deserves a much harsher punishment.

Lucas was charged with two counts of murder in connection to the tragic deaths of her children, aged 6 and 9, on November 8. The incident took place at Lucas’ home in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, which is approximately 20 miles south of Louisville. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered the two victims in a bedroom, covered in blood, with a gun found on the bed, according to a report from the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office.

The boys, identified as Maurice Baker, 6, and Jayden Howard, 9, were immediately rushed to the hospital in critical condition but sadly succumbed to their injuries later on.

During the court proceedings, the judge assigned to Lucas’ case decided to set her bail at $2 million. However, Michelle Rice, stepmother to Maurice Baker, strongly believes that the shootings were premeditated and warrant the death penalty.

Rice expressed her desire for justice, stating, “If it goes to trial, it’s going to be a long process unless she somehow takes a deal for life in prison, but we want the death penalty. That’s what we want. She deserves to die,” as reported by Law & Crime.

Continuing her emotional plea, Rice emphasized the innocence of the two young boys, saying, “They were sweet little boys, and they didn’t deserve it. She deserves the death penalty for this because there’s no reason behind them not being able to be here and celebrate Christmas today with us and to go to school and live their life now.”

Deputies investigating the tragic incident previously stated that the injuries sustained by the children were unsurvivable. Col. Alex Payne of the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office acknowledged that the motive behind the shootings remains unclear. However, he suggested that it could be linked to mental illness, substance abuse, or simply pure evil.

Col. Payne said, “You can have an individual who is suffering from some type of mental illness; you can have an individual who has some type of substance abuse problem; or that individual can simply be just that evil. Or it can be a combination of those things. I haven’t seen any other outliers other than those three. And so right now, I guess it’s anybody’s guess as to which one of those she covers.”

Michelle Rice echoed Col. Payne’s remarks, expressing her belief that the alleged fatal shootings were deliberate. “You can’t accidentally do that to two of your baby boys,” Rice stated.
