KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department has launched an intensive investigation following the discovery of a deceased man on Saturday.

In response to a 911 call made just after 11:30 a.m., KCPD officers were dispatched to the 4400 block of Garfield. The individual who reported the incident led officers to a nearby residence.

Upon entering the residence, law enforcement discovered an unresponsive male identified as 41-year-old Eric Hayden. Tragically, he had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical crews.

Initially categorized as a “suspicious death,” the investigation transitioned into a homicide case based on the severity of Hayden’s injuries and additional evidence found at the scene.

At present, authorities remain uncertain about the circumstances leading up to the shooting. No person of interest has been identified, and there are no individuals currently under custody.
