Accident – death – Obituary News : As President Joe Biden and Congressional Republicans continue to debate the spending package meant to provide aid to Israel and Ukraine, a new Fox News survey has found that voters are divided over the role the U.S. should play in the wars in these two countries. The survey reveals that 30% of voters think the U.S. supports Israel too much, while 27% believe it is not enough. The largest group, comprising 38% of voters, thinks that U.S. support for Israel is about right.

Interestingly, there has been a 6-point increase since November in the number of voters who believe the U.S. is not supportive enough of Israel, and this increase is driven entirely by Republicans (+11 points). Overall, a majority of 61% of voters still support Israel, though this number has declined from 66% in November and 68% in October, at the start of the war. This decline in support can mainly be attributed to Democrats (-8 points), nonwhite voters (-8), and women (-6). Among Democrats, 48% support Israel, while 33% support the Palestinians. In contrast, 76% of Republicans support Israel.

However, the decrease in support for Israel does not translate into increased support for the Palestinians. The number of voters who side more with the Palestinians has remained steady at 23% compared to a month ago. Instead, more voters are unsure (6%) or do not back either side (10%).

In other news, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have uncovered the largest-ever Hamas “terror tunnel” near the Gaza-Israel border. The tunnel system reaches depths of up to 50 meters and lies just 400 meters away from the Erez Crossing, which is the largest crossing area between Israel and Gaza. IDF troops are currently exploring the tunnels, which consist of branching paths that stretch over 2.5 miles. Prior to the Oct. 7 massacre, Hamas had covered the construction of the tunnel system with a massive tented area, preventing clear surveillance from Israeli aircraft. Israel has released footage showing Hamas terrorists blowing through the Erez crossing on the morning of the attack. The IDF has attributed the project to Muhammad Sinwar, the brother of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

Meanwhile, U.S. CENTCOM commander Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla has traveled to Israel to meet with IDF commanders in Tel Aviv ahead of a visit from U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. During the meeting, they discussed strategic matters, the current security situation, humanitarian assistance, and civilian harm mitigation efforts.

The Israeli Defense Forces have also detailed airstrikes and tank attacks on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. The IDF released footage showing air strikes and tank attacks on terrorist infrastructures and military structures of the Iran-backed Hezbollah organization in Lebanon. Hezbollah has repeatedly attacked Israel on its northern border since the Oct. 7 massacre.

Former ambassador-at-large Nathan Sales has argued that Iran backs down when confronted with displays of American strength. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is urging Israel to continue the war against Hamas, despite the IDF mistakenly killing three Israeli hostages in Gaza. Fox News foreign correspondent Trey Yingst suggests that there may be a “new phase” in the conflict in the upcoming year, with President Biden’s administration urging Israel to significantly reduce its airstrikes and artillery operations in Gaza after December.

The IDF has also released footage showing the uncovering of a Hamas tunnel system that linked to a children’s room in the basement of a Gaza home. The tunnel shaft, which included built-in stairs, was destroyed by the IDF’s engineering forces.

In the wake of the rise in antisemitism following the Oct. 7 terrorist attack and Israel’s retaliation, Jewish Americans of all ages are facing the decision of whether to openly embrace their heritage. While many Jewish Americans have been galvanized by public antisemitism, it is a different story for young children. Some parents are concerned about allowing their children to identify as Jewish at school due to safety concerns.

In a disturbing incident, a Georgia middle school teacher was arrested for allegedly threatening to behead a Muslim student who confronted him about an Israeli flag in his classroom. The teacher, Benjamin Reese, was charged with making terroristic threats and cruelty to children.

Overall, the debate over the U.S. role in the conflicts in Israel and Ukraine continues to divide voters, with varying levels of support for Israel among different demographics. The uncovering of the largest-ever Hamas tunnel by the IDF highlights the ongoing security concerns in the region, while the visit of U.S. military officials to Israel underscores the importance of strategic cooperation. As the conflict persists, it remains crucial to understand the complex history and religious connections that fuel the tensions in the region..
