Indian Postgraduate Student Goes Missing in London, BJP Leader Seeks Assistance

An Indian postgraduate student named G S Bhatia, who is pursuing his studies at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom, has been reported missing since December 15. The news was brought to light by Manjinder Singh Sirsa, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

According to Sirsa’s post on social media platform X, Bhatia was last seen at Canary Wharf, located in East London. Concerned about the student’s well-being, Sirsa reached out to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, requesting his attention and assistance in locating Bhatia. The post also urged Loughborough University and the High Commission of India in London (@HCI_London) to collaborate in the search efforts, emphasizing the significance of their support.

To raise awareness about the missing student, Sirsa shared Bhatia’s residence permit and college identification card on X and appealed to the public to share the news. Additionally, two contact numbers were provided for individuals to provide any relevant information regarding the whereabouts of the Indian student.

This unfortunate incident follows another case of an Indian student who recently went missing in the United Kingdom. Mitkumar Patel, a 23-year-old student who arrived in the UK in September for higher studies, was reported missing on November 17. Tragically, Patel’s body was later discovered in the River Thames. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the death was not deemed suspicious. Reports from local Indian media revealed that Patel had sent voice messages to a relative discussing his intentions to end his life before his untimely demise.

According to the ‘Evening Standard’ newspaper, Patel had plans to relocate to Sheffield on November 20 to commence his studies at Sheffield Hallam University and simultaneously work part-time at Amazon. Friends of the missing student became concerned when he failed to return from his regular daily walk to the residence where he was staying in London. They later discovered that Patel had unintentionally left his set of keys behind.

The search for G S Bhatia continues as his loved ones, the Indian community, and authorities unite in their efforts to locate him. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unknown, heightening concerns for his safety and well-being.
