Investigation Launched into Fatal Shooting Incident in Dawson

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – The Dawson Police Department, in collaboration with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), has initiated an investigation into a tragic shooting incident that occurred in Dawson on Saturday evening.

Upon receiving a distress call about an unresponsive black male in the 400 block of 14th Avenue at approximately 6 p.m., Dawson police promptly dispatched their officers to the scene, as confirmed by the authorities.

The victim, identified as Lawrence Jones, aged 22, was discovered by the responding officers and pronounced deceased at the scene. In order to assist with the investigation, the GBI was called in to lend their expertise.

To shed light on the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, officials have arranged for an autopsy to be conducted on Monday morning in Macon.

The investigation into this shooting incident is currently underway, with law enforcement agencies working diligently to uncover the truth and bring justice to the victim and their family.
