Anthony Scott Taylor Faces Multiple Charges Following Attempted Carjacking

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland police are seeking the assistance of the driver of a white Kia, which was the target of an attempted carjacking on November 29. If you were driving this vehicle, authorities want to speak with you regarding the incident.

The incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday when officers managed to box in the suspect, identified as Anthony Scott Taylor, who was driving a stolen GMC Suburban at SE 96th and Harold Street. However, Taylor evaded capture by crashing out of the box-in, driving up onto the sidewalk. His escape was short-lived as spike strips were deployed, deflating two of the tires on the stolen vehicle.

After crashing the stolen Suburban, the 44-year-old suspect attempted to flee on foot and subsequently tried to rob the driver of a white Kia at a stoplight. However, the doors of the Kia were locked, and Taylor was swiftly apprehended by authorities.

Unfortunately, the victim of the attempted carjacking, who was driving the white Kia, managed to escape and has not been located since. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Officer Congdon of East Precinct at crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov with reference to case number 23-309047.

Currently, Taylor is being held at the Multnomah County Jail on seven charges, including one from a previous stolen car case. If the Kia driver is found, Taylor may face additional charges.

Authorities have also discovered a stolen gun and a stolen motorcycle inside the stolen Suburban, further implicating Taylor in criminal activities.
