In the latest news update, the police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a 56-year-old woman in Ernakulam, Kerala. The incident occurred on December 13 when the accused, identified as Firdous Ali, lured the victim under the pretext of a job opportunity. The case is currently under investigation.

Details of the Incident

The victim, a 56-year-old woman who had been searching for employment in Kochi, was approached by the accused while she was on her way home. The accused, promising to take her to the metro station, instead took her to a swamp near the railway yard where he sexually assaulted her. The police were able to identify and apprehend the accused after conducting a thorough investigation. The accused is scheduled to appear in court today. The victim is currently receiving medical treatment for her injuries at Kalamassery Medical College. Further investigation is ongoing.

Increase in Sexual Assault Cases

Unfortunately, this incident is not an isolated case. In another heart-wrenching incident, a 10-year-old girl attending a wedding in Loni, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly gang-raped by two men inside a car. The perpetrators lured the young girl into the vehicle under the pretense of dropping her home. The Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested both suspects, Zakir (58) and Nizam (32). During the arrest, Nizam attempted to flee and was shot in the legs by the police. The incident occurred on December 10, when the victim lost her way while attending a wedding procession in the area.

Similar Incidents

In another shocking incident earlier this month, a 23-year-old woman was gang-raped by three men while returning from her office in Ghaziabad district. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Tronica City police station. The victim, along with a male colleague and another female friend, was waylaid by a group of unidentified men. The assailants assaulted and overpowered the victim’s friends before dragging her into a secluded area where they took turns raping her. The perpetrators fled the scene after the crime.
