Accident – Death – Obituary News : Delhi Metro Accident: 35-Year-Old Woman Succumbs to Injuries after Saree Gets Stuck in Train Door

A tragic incident occurred at Inderlok Metro Station on 14th December, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old woman. The victim, identified as Reena, had boarded a metro train at Inderlok Station when her saree got entangled in the door. The woman was dragged along the platform for nearly 25 meters before hitting a track access gate and falling onto the tracks. Despite being rushed to Safdarjung Hospital, Reena succumbed to her injuries on Saturday.

The details surrounding the accident remain unclear, as it is unknown whether Reena was attempting to get off the train or board it. However, according to a report by The Indian Express, eyewitnesses stated that the woman was dragged along the platform before the unfortunate incident took place.

Vicky, a relative of the victim, shared his account of the incident. He revealed that Reena was traveling from Nangloi in west Delhi to Mohan Nagar. As she reached Inderlok Metro Station and was changing trains, her saree got stuck in the door, causing her to fall and sustain severe injuries. She was immediately admitted to Safdarjung hospital in critical condition. Sadly, her condition deteriorated, and she passed away on Saturday.

Reena, who had been widowed seven years ago, leaves behind her son and daughter. The incident has left her family devastated and mourning the loss of their loved one.

Delhi Metro’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Anuj Dayal, addressed the incident, stating, “Prima facie, it appears that a woman passenger’s clothes got entangled in a train, leading to injuries and subsequent demise in the hospital.” Dayal further added that the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety will conduct an inquiry into the incident to determine the cause and prevent such accidents in the future.

As of now, no case has been registered by the Delhi Police in connection with the incident. The police are currently investigating the matter, and if necessary, legal action will be taken.

The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety precautions while using public transportation systems. The Delhi Metro authorities are continuously working to enhance passenger safety and prevent such accidents from occurring.
