Tragic Incident: Woman Dies After Getting Dragged by Delhi Metro Train

Delhi woman dies: In a tragic incident, a 35-year-old woman lost her life after her clothes got entangled in the doors of a Delhi Metro train. The incident occurred on December 14 at the Inderlok Metro station, where the woman’s saree got stuck between the train’s doors, causing severe injuries. Despite undergoing treatment at a hospital, she succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, December 16.

The victim, identified as Reena Devi, was traveling from Nangloi to Mohan Nagar along with her 11-year-old son when the accident took place. According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the incident happened due to a failure in the train’s sensor system, which failed to detect the presence of the woman’s clothing. As a result, she was dragged by the train for several meters before falling onto the tracks.

Following the incident, Reena Devi was immediately rushed to Safdarjung Hospital, where she was admitted to the ICU ward of Neurosurgery. Unfortunately, she couldn’t survive the severe head injuries and chest trauma, and she passed away at 4:20 p.m. on Saturday.

The Delhi Police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC and have requested the CCTV footage of the incident from the DMRC. A senior police officer stated that if negligence is identified, a case will be registered.
