A woman tragically died after her saree got stuck in the doors of a Delhi Metro train at Inderlok Station.

A 35-year-old woman, identified as Reena, met with a tragic fate at Delhi’s Inderlok station when she came under a metro train and later succumbed to her injuries at Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday. The incident occurred on Thursday when Reena’s saree got entangled in the doors of the metro train.

The woman was dragged along the platform for approximately 25 meters, sustaining serious injuries. It remains unclear whether she was attempting to board the train or disembark from it.

According to Anuj Dayal, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Delhi Metro, “An incident took place at Inderlok Metro Station on Thursday where it appears that a woman passenger’s clothes got entangled in a train, leading to injuries and subsequent demise in the hospital on Saturday.” This statement was given to news agency PTI.

Following the incident, the Commissioner of the Metro Railway Safety will conduct an inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, as informed by Dayal.

The Delhi Police have initiated an investigation into the incident and have taken action under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

Woman Admitted in Critical Condition

Reena’s relative, Vicky, revealed that she was traveling from Nangloi in west Delhi to Mohan Nagar when the accident occurred at Inderlok Metro Station.

“While changing trains at Inderlok Metro Station, her saree got stuck, causing her to fall and sustain severe injuries. She was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital in critical condition and unfortunately passed away on Saturday evening,” he said.

Reena is survived by her son and daughter. Her husband passed away approximately seven years ago, added Vicky.
