Springdale Police Investigate Fatal Shooting Outside Nightclub

SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Authorities in Springdale are currently investigating a tragic shooting incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to an official news release.

At approximately 1:50 a.m., the Springdale Police Department (SPD) responded to a distressing gunshot call at the Zabana Night Club, located on S. Missouri Road.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a young male victim with two gunshot wounds. The individual has been identified as 21-year-old Luis Ogando Lopez. Tragically, Lopez succumbed to his injuries shortly after, as confirmed in the press release.

According to the statement, the other individual involved in the incident was the nightclub’s security guard. Springdale PD reports that the security guard fully cooperated with authorities and has been taken to the police station for questioning.

Initial findings from the investigation suggest that Ogando Lopez was ejected from the nightclub due to his disruptive behavior and the possession of a knife. Subsequently, he returned to his vehicle to retrieve a firearm and confronted the security guard in the parking lot.

Allegedly, Ogando Lopez aimed the firearm at the security guard, prompting the guard to defend himself by discharging his own firearm, ultimately striking Lopez.

The Springdale Police Department has reported that no other individuals sustained injuries during the incident, and as of now, no arrests have been made in relation to the case.

The investigation into this tragic event is currently ongoing, and law enforcement authorities have refrained from releasing any further details at this time.
