Police Arrest One Person for Alleged Rape of Dalit Woman in Moving Bus

The distressing incident occurred during the night of December 9 and 10 when the victim boarded a bus in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, with the intention of travelling to Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Arrest and Search for Accused

While one of the suspects, identified as Aarif, has been captured, the other individual named Lalit is currently evading authorities.

Details of the Crime

Meena stated, “Prima facie, it appears that both the accused took turns assaulting her. While one committed the crime, the other operated the vehicle. Eventually, a passenger approached the driver’s cabin to request a brief stop for a restroom break. It was at this juncture that the passenger noticed the woman and became suspicious of foul play.”

Intervention by Passengers

The concerned passenger promptly alerted the other individuals on the bus. Subsequently, the passengers reportedly confronted and physically confronted both drivers, resulting in one of them managing to escape.

Safe Arrival in Jaipur

“Following the incident, one of the passengers, who also happens to be a professional driver, took control of the bus and drove it to Jaipur,” the police official added.
