Bhopal Teenager Shot Dead While Accompanying Friend in Gwalior
BHOPAL: In a tragic incident, a 17-year-old boy was shot dead in Gwalior on Friday evening. The victim, Imran Khan, was a Rapido driver who worked to fund his education. He lost his life simply because he had accompanied a friend who was responding to a challenge by another group of students.
The chain of events began when Golu, one of Imran’s acquaintances, received a call from a person named Arvind. The call was a challenge to confront them at intersection number six of Murar area in Gwalior. Imran, along with his friends Prince Khare and Anoop, arrived at the designated spot where they encountered Arvind and his five associates.
Tensions escalated, leading to a clash between the two groups. Amidst the chaos, Golu, Prince, and Anoop tried to flee the scene, but Imran was surrounded by Arvind and his companions. He was shot, and the bullet struck his jaw, passing through his head and killing him instantly. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the assailants fleeing the scene on two bikes after the shooting.
Local residents rushed Imran to Birla Hospital, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival. Initially, the victim was mistakenly identified as Prince based on a bag found at the crime scene. However, the police called the number on the bag and confirmed that Prince Khare was alive. Prince was then brought in for questioning, where he provided a detailed account of the incident.
Footage from nearby CCTV cameras revealed a heated argument between a group of approximately 10 to 12 boys at the intersection. However, due to the nighttime footage, identifying all individuals involved was challenging. Nevertheless, the presence of Prince and Imran at the scene was confirmed.
Murar police stated that Imran had no prior disputes with anyone and became an unintended victim in a confrontation with a friend. An eyewitness named Dilip Kumar Rajak shared his account of the harrowing event. He witnessed six youths on two bikes attacking Imran before speeding away. Kumar, who works at Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia’s Delhi bungalow, helped transport Imran to the hospital, but unfortunately, his life could not be saved.
The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the community, highlighting the need for stricter measures to prevent such senseless acts of violence. The police are actively investigating the case and are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice.
