Michael Gene Tindall, 62, of Silver Springs

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) issued a social media post on Friday evening seeking assistance from the public in locating Tindall. The incident in question occurred on October 3, when MCSO received a call regarding a verbal disturbance at a home located in the 1390 block of N Highway 314A in Silver Springs.

According to MCSO, the caller reported that Tindall, armed with a rifle, had threatened to shoot any law enforcement officers who responded to the scene. Promptly responding to the call, MCSO deputies safely evacuated the caller from the residence.

As the situation unfolded, Tindall barricaded himself inside the home, leading to the deployment of the MCSO SWAT team. In response to the standoff, the 1390 block of N Highway 314A was closed in both directions for a mile to ensure public safety.

After establishing contact with Tindall, MCSO deputies successfully apprehended him in the morning hours, resulting in the reopening of the roadway. Subsequently, Tindall was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail. However, he was released the following day after posting a $30,000 bond.

Tindall is now facing felony charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted Florida felon. On October 24, he was ordered to participate in the S.H.I.E.L.D. Program, a court-ordered supervision program that utilizes ankle monitors to track domestic violence offenders on pretrial release.

Unfortunately, MCSO detectives suspect that Tindall unlawfully removed his ankle monitor and has since fled from court-ordered supervision. In an effort to apprehend him, detectives urge anyone with information on Tindall’s whereabouts to contact the MCSO non-emergency number at 352-732-9111.

Tindall’s jury trial regarding the aggravated assault and firearm possession charges is scheduled to commence on February 12, 2024.
