Senior police officer remanded for three days following fatal accident in Meru Raya

IPOH: In a tragic incident that occurred in Taman Jati, Meru Raya, a 17-year-old student lost his life after being involved in an accident. The senior police officer believed to be responsible for the incident has been remanded for three days.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Court judge Farah Nabihah Muhammad Dan at the district police station on Saturday (Dec 16). The remand period will commence on Saturday and conclude on Monday (Dec 18).
The senior police officer, who is stationed at the Kedah state contingent headquarters, was apprehended on Friday (Dec 15). The officer is currently under investigation for reckless driving causing death under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, as well as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
The victim, identified as Muhammad Zaharif Affendi Muhd Zamrie, was a Form Five student from SMK Jati. The unfortunate incident occurred on Friday at approximately 12.40pm when the student’s motorcycle was struck by a car, resulting in his untimely demise.
