A 26-Year-Old Woman Critically Injured After Boyfriend Allegedly Attempts to Run Her Over in Maharashtra’s Thane City

A 26-year-old woman is fighting for her life after her boyfriend, who happens to be the son of a prominent bureaucrat, allegedly tried to run her over with his car near a hotel in Maharashtra’s Thane city, according to the police. The incident took place at around 4.30 am on Monday, December 11th.

The accused, identified as Ashwajit Gaikwad, has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including voluntarily causing hurt, rash driving, and intentional insult with the intent to provoke a breach of the peace. The case has been registered at the Kasarvadavali police station in Thane.

According to a police official, an argument broke out between the couple near a hotel on Ghodbunder Road. After the argument, when the victim, Priya Singh, collected her belongings from the car, the accused tried to mow her down, causing her to fall and sustain serious injuries.

Priya Singh, who is currently receiving treatment at a hospital, took to her official Instagram profile to share details about the incident. In her post, she stated, “Earlier this morning at 4 am, I received a call from my boyfriend, and I went to see him. He was at a function with his family and our common friends. Upon reaching there, I noticed that my boyfriend was behaving strangely.”

She further described the horrifying incident, stating, “My boyfriend slapped me, tried to strangle my neck, and I attempted to push him away. He bit my hand, beat me, pulled my hair, and out of nowhere, one of his friends pushed me to the ground.”

In her Instagram post, Priya also revealed that Ashwajit instructed his driver to run the car over her. “The driver accelerated the car and hit me from the left corner, causing me to fall to the ground, and the rear left wheel of the car ran over my right leg,” she wrote.

Priya suffered a broken right leg and had to undergo surgery to insert a rod. She also sustained bruises all over her body, including her arms, back, and stomach area.

This shocking incident has once again raised concerns about the safety and well-being of women in relationships. It highlights the need for stricter laws and increased awareness to prevent such acts of violence.

As the investigation continues, the accused and his accomplices must be held accountable for their actions. It is crucial to ensure that justice is served and that the victim receives the necessary support and protection during this challenging time.
