In response to the incident, BJP leader Narayan Rane countered opposition claims that law and order has deteriorated in Maharashtra. Rane raised the question of whether law and order were intact during the time of Disha Salian and Sushant Singh’s deaths. He defended the government’s actions, stating that if a case is registered, the accused will be arrested and subjected to a thorough investigation.

Congress leader Tariq Anwar condemned the incident, highlighting the need for a change in societal thinking, especially in cases involving love. Anwar referred to such incidents as a social evil that needs to be addressed.

The incident involved a 26-year-old woman who suffered severe injuries when her boyfriend, the son of a senior bureaucrat, allegedly attempted to run her over with his car in Thane. The accused, identified as Ashwajit Gaikwad, is now facing charges under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
