Greenbrier County Woman Arrested on Felony Drug Charge in Fayette County

MOUNT HOPE, W.Va. – A woman from Greenbrier County is now facing a serious felony drug charge in Fayette County following a routine traffic stop on Friday evening, according to Fayette County Sheriff Mike Fridley.

Sheriff Fridley revealed that the incident took place just after 9:00 p.m. when deputies conducted a minor traffic stop in Mount Hope. The driver, later identified as 28-year-old Katelynn McClung from Rupert, voluntarily disclosed to the deputies that she had marijuana inside her vehicle. Subsequently, a thorough search of the vehicle was conducted, leading to the discovery of five bags suspected to contain cocaine. Additionally, a set of scales, a significant amount of cash, and a firearm were also found.

As a result of the findings, McClung has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a schedule II narcotic, which is a serious offense under the West Virginia law. She was promptly taken into custody and transported to the Southern Regional Jail, where she will remain until further legal proceedings.
