Accident – Death – Obituary News : A shocking and gruesome crime has sent shockwaves through a courtroom in Florida. Derek Rosa, a 13-year-old honors student, allegedly confessed to stabbing his mother, Irina Garcia, to death while his baby sister slept nearby. The chilling recording of Rosa’s alleged confession was played during a pre-trial hearing, leaving everyone in the courtroom stunned.

According to the recording, Rosa admitted to grabbing a kitchen knife and entering his mother’s room to commit the heinous act. He confessed, saying, “I woke up, I grabbed one of the kitchen knives and I went to her room… I killed her.” The motive behind the brutal killing remains unknown.

In light of the disturbing evidence, Miami Dade Circuit Judge Richard Hersch ordered that Rosa be held in an adult jail, specifically the Miami-Dade Metro West detention center, until his trial begins. The judge expressed concern about the conditions in which Rosa has been kept, stating that he was disturbed by the limited time the teenager was allowed outside of his cell.

During a separate hearing, prosecutors presented harrowing baby cam footage showing Rosa standing over his sleeping mother just moments before the alleged stabbing took place. The black and white images, time-stamped at 11 pm, captured Rosa in a haunting posture. He called 911 to report the murder around 11:30 pm. Another photo released by investigators showed Garcia peacefully cradling her 14-day-old baby in her bed at 10:23 pm on the same evening, unaware of the impending tragedy.

When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Garcia’s lifeless body on the floor, covered in multiple stab wounds, including a slashed artery in her neck. Shockingly, her two-week-old baby was found unharmed in her crib nearby. Rosa is also accused of taking a bloody selfie and sending it to a friend, along with the word “Goodbye.” After taking the photos, he allegedly asked a dispatcher if what he did was “bad.” Furthermore, Rosa claimed to have found two guns belonging to his stepfather and contemplated committing suicide but ultimately decided against it.

The family of Derek Rosa has expressed profound shock and disbelief at the allegations, describing him as a “good kid” and stating that nobody could have imagined he was capable of such a horrific act. Despite their claims, Rosa’s attorneys have not argued any mental health issues as a contributing factor to the crime.

During the pre-trial hearing, Hialeah Police officer Joseph Elosegui, who interviewed Rosa after the murder, disclosed additional evidence found through Rosa’s internet activity. It was revealed that the teenager had researched the most effective method of killing someone and whether a small knife could cut through bone.

Rosa was initially held in Miami-Dade’s juvenile detention center for two weeks after his arrest until his charges were upgraded to first-degree murder by a grand jury. He was then transferred to the adult facility, Metro West. The denial of his bail on Friday followed a lengthy hearing process to determine his housing until trial. While Judge Hersch acknowledged his disappointment with Rosa’s living conditions, he concluded that there was no clear violation of the teenager’s constitutional rights.

Despite the defense’s concerns about Rosa’s treatment in the adult jail, including limited time outside his cell and lack of access to educational resources, their motion was rejected. The prosecution argued that these issues did not rise to a constitutional level.

While the shocking details of this case continue to unfold, the community remains gripped by the tragedy that has unfolded. The upcoming trial will shed further light on the events surrounding the alleged murder of Irina Garcia and the role her teenage son played in this chilling crime..
