Odisha STF Arrests Fraudster Wanted by Kashmir Police for Forgery and Cheating

The Odisha Special Task Force (STF) has successfully apprehended a notorious fraudster, Sayed Ishaan Bukhari, who was wanted by the Kashmir Police in relation to multiple cases of forgery and cheating. The arrest was made in the city of Jaipur, Rajasthan, as stated in a press release by the police unit. The STF further revealed that the accused had links with suspicious individuals both within Kerala and Pakistan.

Originally from Jammu & Kashmir’s Kupwara district, Sayed Ishaan Bukhari has an extensive criminal record. The Odisha STF disclosed that he had impersonated various professionals on different occasions, including a neuro specialist doctor, an Army doctor, an officer in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), and even a close associate of high-ranking NIA officials.

The accused, aged 37, has also engaged in fraudulent marriages with at least 6-7 women from different parts of India, such as Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha. Investigation into his activities revealed that he had established romantic relationships with multiple women by posing as an internationally qualified doctor.

Following reliable information, the STF conducted a raid on December 15 at Neulpur, Dharmshala, Jajpur, leading to the arrest of Sayed Ishaan Bukhari. The raid was carried out with the assistance of local police officials and witnessed by independent parties. The police unit registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000. More than 100 forged documents and incriminating materials were seized during the operation.

JN Pankaj, the Inspector General of STF Odisha, confirmed that the accused had been in communication with suspicious elements in Kerala and Pakistan. The seized materials included forged copies of medical degrees purportedly issued by prestigious institutions such as Cornel University in the US, the Canadian Health Services Institute, and Christian Medical College Vellore.

The investigation into Sayed Ishaan Bukhari’s activities is ongoing, as the Odisha STF continues to gather evidence and delve deeper into the case. The arrest of this fraudster has been a significant breakthrough for the law enforcement agencies, ensuring that justice will be served.
