18-Year-Old Charged in Fatal Shootout in Southwest Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — An 18-year-old male has been charged in connection with a shootout that left one person dead in southwest Charlotte Thursday night, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

On December 14th, a tragic incident unfolded on Apex Landing Way near West Tyvola Road, resulting in two individuals being shot. Both victims sustained life-threatening injuries and were immediately transported to a nearby hospital. Tragically, 18-year-old Jah’Zir Elijah Jackson succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital, as confirmed by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

According to the authorities, the shootout involved two groups of individuals exchanging gunfire. One of the groups was inside a vehicle, while the other group was located near the Avion Points apartment complex.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has charged Al-Terrik Bogar in connection with the incident. Bogar faces several charges, including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, attempted murder, and discharging a firearm into an occupied property. These charges are related to Bogar’s actions during the shooting, specifically targeting the second victim.

Although no additional suspects are being sought by CMPD in relation to this case, the investigation remains active and ongoing.
