Village Council Member Detonates Hand Grenades During Meeting in Western Ukraine

A village council member in western Ukraine shocked the community on Friday when he detonated three hand grenades during a meeting. The incident left him critically injured, along with at least two dozen other people who were present at the meeting. Local authorities are investigating the motive behind this shocking act of violence.

A video that surfaced on social media captured the terrifying moment when the council member, identified as Serhii Batryn, entered the room where the village council of Keretsky was holding a meeting to discuss and approve the community’s budget. In the footage, Batryn can be seen taking three grenades out of his pockets, removing the pins, and throwing the weapons onto the floor in front of him.

The detonation of the grenades resulted in chaos and panic, as attendees scrambled to escape harm’s way. Thranscarpathian region police have reported that a total of 26 people sustained injuries, with six of them being in critical condition. The council member responsible for the attack also suffered grave injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment in an attempt to save his life.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities have yet to establish a clear motive for the council member’s violent act. It remains unknown whether this incident is somehow connected to the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Investigators are diligently working to gather all the necessary evidence and information to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this shocking event.
