In a recent incident on December 13, a Fairport resident was arrested by deputies following a hit-and-run crash resulting from driving while ability impaired (DWAI). The collision occurred along State Route 444 and prompted law enforcement intervention.

According to an official news release, the incident unfolded shortly before 1 p.m. when individuals reported a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of State Route 44 and County Road 41. Responding promptly, deputies rushed to the scene to investigate the matter further.

As deputies were en route, they spotted the suspected vehicle traveling south on State Route 44 towards East Bloomfield. Recognizing the urgency, law enforcement initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of County Road 30.

Upon inspection, it was revealed that the driver responsible for the hit-and-run crash was an 85-year-old named Victor Carlsen. Subsequently, Carlsen was taken into custody on charges of DWAI drugs. The legal proceedings for these charges will be addressed at a later date in the local court.
