Two Dead and 18 Injured as Bus Plunges into Ditch in Uttar Pradesh

Tragedy struck in the early hours of Friday when a bus veered off the National Highway 730 (NH-730) near Laukahawa village in Uttar Pradesh, causing two fatalities and leaving 18 individuals with severe injuries. The bus, carrying a total of 36 passengers, crashed through the bridge railing and fell into a deep ditch, resulting in the loss of two lives. The deceased were identified as Dilip Prajapati, aged 22, while efforts are currently underway to determine the identity of the other victim.

The accident left a trail of devastation, as 18 individuals suffered various degrees of injuries. Among the wounded were bus driver Santosh, conductor Mau, and passengers such as Mohammad Khan (30), Pintu Bishwakarma, Umar, Durgesh Kumar, Kapilvastu Badhni, Veeru, and Krishna Kumar (37), among others. The injured victims were promptly transported to the District Memorial Hospital and Community Health Center for immediate medical attention. However, due to the critical condition of Santosh, he was further referred to Bahraich Medical College for specialized care.

According to reports, the ill-fated bus had embarked on its journey from Lucknow’s Qaisar Bagh at approximately 11 pm on Thursday. After making a stop at Balrampur around 5 am, the vehicle was en route to its final destination in Badhni when the tragic incident occurred at approximately 5:30 am. Swift action was taken as soon as the authorities received information about the accident. Police personnel and an ambulance were immediately deployed to the scene, successfully rescuing the stranded passengers. The arduous task of retrieving the bus from the ditch was accomplished with the assistance of a crane, which managed to extricate the vehicle by 8:30 am.

The exact cause of the accident remains unknown, and a comprehensive investigation is currently underway to ascertain the factors leading up to the tragedy. Authorities are diligently working to uncover any potential negligence or external influences that may have contributed to this devastating incident.
