Accident – Death – Obituary News : Police in India have apprehended an individual who is reportedly a “key accused” in the recent security breach that took place in parliament. The suspect, identified as Lalit Jha, surrendered to authorities in Delhi on Thursday. However, he has not yet been presented in court for formal charges.

Yesterday, four other individuals were arrested in connection with the incident and have been charged under a stringent anti-terror law. They have been remanded to police custody for a week. This breach, which occurred on the 22nd anniversary of a devastating militant attack on the parliament, has dominated headlines in India since Wednesday. The breach took place just hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries paid tribute to the victims.

The breach involved two men, Manoranjan D and Sagar Sharma, who entered the MPs’ chamber, chanting slogans and releasing smoke. Additionally, two others, Neelam and Amol Shinde, were apprehended for shouting slogans and using colored gas outside the building. All four individuals are in their twenties and thirties, and local media reports suggest that they claimed to be unemployed and motivated by frustration with the government’s policies. At this point, the police have not linked these accused individuals to any political organizations.

Mr. Jha, who has been described as the suspected “mastermind” behind the security breach, has not made any statements regarding the incident. According to The Times of India, Mr. Jha surrendered himself accompanied by another individual, who has also been taken into custody.

During a court hearing seeking custody of the four other accused individuals, Additional Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava asserted that the protest was a “well-planned conspiracy.” This breach has also sparked a political uproar, resulting in the suspension of 14 opposition lawmakers from parliament due to their protests. These lawmakers have been demanding a discussion on the breach and calling for statements from Mr. Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Furthermore, they have demanded action against Pratap Simha, an MP from the governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who allegedly signed the passes used by the intruders to access the public gallery in parliament. Neither Mr. Simha nor his party have officially commented on these allegations. Notably, one of the accused individuals, Manoranjan, hails from Mr. Simha’s constituency.
