Meanwhile, four other individuals who were arrested on Wednesday have been charged under a stringent anti-terrorism law and have been remanded to police custody for a week.

Since Wednesday, the security breach incident in parliament has been making headlines across India. The breach took place on the 22nd anniversary of a deadly militant attack on the parliament, shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries paid tribute to the victims.

Manoranjan D and Sagar Sharma, identified as the two men responsible for the breach, entered the MPs’ chamber, raising slogans and releasing smoke. Additionally, Neelam and Amol Shinde were arrested for shouting slogans and using colored gas outside the parliament building.

All four individuals involved in the breach are in their 20s and 30s. Local media reports suggest that they expressed their frustration with the government’s policies and claimed to be unemployed during their interactions with the police. However, no political affiliations have been established for the accused individuals at this time.

While Lalit Jha has been described as the suspected “mastermind” behind the security breach, he has refrained from making any statements regarding the incident. The Times of India newspaper reported that Jha surrendered accompanied by another individual who has also been taken into custody.

During a hearing at a Delhi court on Wednesday, Additional Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava asserted that the protest was a “well-planned conspiracy,” seeking custody of the four accused. The security breach has sparked a political uproar, resulting in the suspension of 14 opposition lawmakers from parliament over their protests. They have been demanding discussions on the breach and requesting statements from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

The opposition lawmakers have further demanded action against Pratap Simha, a Member of Parliament from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who allegedly signed the passes used by the intruders to access the public gallery in parliament. Neither Simha nor the BJP has issued any official comments regarding this matter. Notably, one of the accused individuals, Manoranjan, hails from Simha’s constituency.
