New Mexico State Police Investigate Fatal Shooting in San Miguel County
VILLANUEVA, N.M. – The New Mexico State Police have been called upon to investigate a tragic incident of a fatal home shooting that occurred on Tuesday night, December 12 in San Miguel County. State officers arrived at the scene to find a man, later identified as 39-year-old Alejandro Rodriguez, lying face down with an apparent gunshot wound. Unfortunately, Rodriguez succumbed to his injuries and passed away in his home.

The state police investigators have revealed that Gary Hicks, 59, and another individual were returning from cutting wood when one of them noticed Rodriguez’s vehicle parked at a family member’s house. It was later discovered that Rodriguez had been prohibited from contacting the homeowner due to a restraining order.
According to the New Mexico State Police (NMSP), an argument broke out between the unidentified man and Rodriguez. Tragically, the altercation took a deadly turn when a gunshot was heard, resulting in Rodriguez’s untimely demise. The state police promptly identified Gary Hicks as the shooter and have subsequently charged him with murder.
The investigation into the shooting is still ongoing, with state police working diligently to gather all the necessary evidence and information surrounding the incident.
