ELKHART, Ind. (WISH) — A tragic incident unfolded in Elkhart in the early hours of Thursday morning, resulting in the arrest of an individual following a double fatal shooting. The Elkhart Police Department swiftly responded to the distress call.

The Shooting Incident

At precisely 12:22 a.m. on Thursday, the Elkhart City 911 Communications Center received an urgent report of a shooting incident with multiple injuries. The distressing event occurred in the 3100 block of Northview Drive, prompting the immediate dispatch of officers from the Elkhart Police Department and first responders to the scene.

Discovering the Victims

Upon arrival, law enforcement officials discovered two males lying in a parking lot, both suffering from critical gunshot wounds. Tragically, one of the victims, identified as Michael Pike, aged 30, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The second victim, Jalen Young, aged 24, was expeditiously transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.

Tragic Outcome

Despite the prompt medical attention provided, Jalen Young’s injuries proved fatal, and he tragically passed away upon arrival at the hospital. The loss of these young lives has left the community in shock and mourning.

Suspect Apprehended

In response to the distressing incident, law enforcement officers were able to swiftly locate and detain a male suspect at the scene. The individual, identified as Christian Wall, aged 22, was subsequently arrested and booked into the Elkhart County Jail on a preliminary charge of murder.
