On the evening of May 19, 2022, just before 10:10 p.m., the Hartford police received an alert from their ShotSpotter detection system, indicating gunfire in the vicinity of 115 Zion St.

At the same time, an officer patrolling Ward Street witnessed a speeding vehicle, later identified as 25-year-old Daryl Walker from Bloomfield, racing eastward. Unfortunately, Walker lost control of the vehicle, colliding with a parked car, the police cruiser, and ultimately crashing into the Hartford Police Substation located at 134 Affleck St.

Upon closer inspection, the officers discovered that both Walker and a front seat passenger had sustained gunshot wounds. Immediate medical assistance was provided to the victims, who were then transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Investigation at the scene led the police to uncover evidence of a shooting near 127 Zion St. Subsequently, it was determined that the victims had been shot at this location.

As the investigation progressed, law enforcement officials identified Daniel White as the primary suspect. A meticulously prepared arrest warrant was approved by a judge of the Superior Court, charging White with the aforementioned crimes.

However, at the time of the warrant’s issuance, White was already incarcerated in Virginia on unrelated charges. Law enforcement successfully extradited him back to Hartford on Thursday.

Daniel White is currently being held in custody with a bond set at $1.5 million.
