Confrontation Over Christmas Decorations in Titusville Leads to Gunfire

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – A Christmas decoration dispute took a dangerous turn in Titusville as two Central Florida teenagers now face felony charges after shots were fired during the confrontation.

On Wednesday evening at around 9:15 p.m., the Titusville Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots in the 1500 block of Fuji Drive.

According to investigators, the incident began when a victim confronted 19-year-old Vance Shannon, who had pulled down the Christmas lights from the victim’s home. The entire altercation was captured by home security cameras, as stated in Shannon’s arrest report.

Allegedly, the victim followed Shannon’s car as it left the scene, prompting Shannon to pull out a gun and threaten the victim to leave. Shannon then drove back to the victim’s home and intentionally destroyed more Christmas decorations by reversing into the front yard.

The situation escalated further when the victim used his own truck to ram into Shannon’s car. At this point, a 17-year-old girl, who was in Shannon’s vehicle, attacked the victim with a knife, resulting in a cut on his left hand.

Amidst the chaos, Shannon fired multiple shots at the victim from his car, while shouting, “I’ll kill you!” Fortunately, the victim managed to avoid being struck by the bullets except for his truck, which sustained five gunshot wounds.

Both suspects quickly fled the scene but inadvertently left behind crucial evidence, including the grill of Shannon’s car and a purse containing their driver’s licenses. The police later apprehended them at the home of the female suspect in Mims.

Vance Shannon, now facing charges of attempted murder, discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, and shooting a firearm into a vehicle, is being held at the Brevard County jail on a bond totaling $173,000. Additionally, he faces a criminal mischief charge for the destruction of Christmas decorations.

The 17-year-old female suspect, who has been charged with attempted homicide and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, has been remanded to the Brevard County Juvenile Justice Center.

Although the victim sustained only a minor knife wound, the investigation into the incident is ongoing. The Titusville Police Department continues to gather evidence and interview witnesses to determine the full extent of the events that unfolded on that fateful night.
