A mentally-challenged 55-year-old man named Kamalkant has been arrested in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh for the brutal killing of his 2-year-old grandson, Ayush, and daughter-in-law, Shikha. The tragic incident occurred when Kamalkant, disturbed by Ayush’s constant crying, attacked the toddler with a sickle. Shikha, who attempted to intervene, was also brutally assaulted. While Ayush died on the spot, Shikha succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital. The police have recovered the murder weapon, a sickle, from the crime scene. The grandmother, who was absent at the time of the incident, was confronted with the horrifying scene upon her return.

The decomposed body of a 30-year-old woman was found in her rented accommodation in Malviya Nagar, South Delhi. The woman had been residing in the building since July 2022, and her flat was locked from the inside. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, no external injuries were visible. The police are currently investigating whether her death was a result of natural causes, suicide, or foul play. A postmortem report is awaited to determine the exact cause of death.
