Three People killed in Tragic Road Accident on Jamalpur-Tangail Highway

Three individuals lost their lives and five others sustained injuries in a devastating triangular collision on the Jamalpur-Tangail highway today, December 15.

The deceased have been identified as Samsul Islam, a 45-year-old resident of Chhantiya village in Jamalpur sadar upazila, Suja Mandol, aged 34, from the same village, and Anowar Hossian from Dhanbari upazila under Tangail district.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-charge of Jamalpur Sadar police station, Muhammad Mohabbat Kabir stated that the accident occurred when a passenger bus heading towards Dhaka from Jamalpur collided with a vegetable carrier pickup van coming from the opposite direction in the Titpalla area around 6:30 am. The collision resulted in the instant deaths of two passengers in the pickup van.

Simultaneously, a CNG-run autorickshaw following behind also collided with the van, causing injuries to six individuals, including the van driver, Kabir added.

Following the accident, a team from the fire service and civil defence promptly arrived at the scene to rescue the injured victims. They were then rushed to Jamalpur General Hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, the van driver succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, the official further mentioned.

The tragic incident took place on December 15, 2023, at 6:30 am.
