18-Year-Old Marion Resident Fatally Shot, Police Seek Information

MARION, Ind. — A tragic incident unfolded in Marion on Thursday evening when an 18-year-old resident was fatally shot. The Marion Police Department is appealing to the public for any information regarding the incident.

According to a news release from the Marion Police Department, the victim, identified as 18-year-old Willie Oxendine, was rushed to a local hospital at around 10:05 p.m. on Thursday. Oxendine had sustained a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Tragically, despite efforts to save his life, Oxendine was pronounced dead after being airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital.

Authorities have revealed that the shooting took place at an apartment in Marion. Investigation findings suggest that three men, including Oxendine, were present inside the apartment during the incident. One of the individuals was in possession of a handgun, which was later identified as the weapon used to shoot Oxendine.

Following the shooting, the individuals present at the apartment took Oxendine to the hospital. In the aftermath of the incident, a search warrant was executed at the apartment, leading to the collection of crucial evidence.
