According to recently filed court documents in Johnson County, 17-year-old Quincy Stringer has been arrested and charged with felony murder in connection with the incident that occurred on December 10.

Authorities from the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that the shooting appears to have stemmed from a drug deal gone wrong. The lifeless body of Ethan David was discovered in a parked car on Liberty Way Drive in the Central Park neighborhood of Greenwood around 7 p.m. that fateful Sunday.

Following an autopsy, it was determined that David had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his forehead.

Reports indicate that police received a distress call at approximately 6:39 p.m. reporting a shooting near Central Park. Witnesses at the scene claimed to have heard a gunshot and spotted two individuals wearing hoodies fleeing westward from the crime scene.

Law enforcement officials found a solitary 9mm Hornaday casing on the sidewalk near the vehicle David was believed to be in. Additionally, an iPhone, drugs, and drug paraphernalia were discovered inside the car.

When investigators analyzed the contents of the iPhone, they uncovered conversations between David and an individual listed as “d” discussing their plans for the Sunday evening meet-up. The phone records also indicated two cash transfers to the contact.

Through interviews with neighbors and acquaintances of those allegedly involved in the incident, authorities were able to identify Quincy Stringer as the primary suspect in the shooting.

According to an unnamed individual who played a role in planning the crime but was not identified by the police, Stringer and another person were overheard discussing a plan to “rob their plug.” In street slang, a “plug” typically refers to a narcotics dealer.

Stringer and the other individual, identified as a 15-year-old female, arranged to meet David at a local park in their neighborhood. The plan entailed approaching David, inquiring about his inventory, and then forcibly taking the drugs from him.

In a subsequent interview with someone reportedly in a relationship with Stringer, it was revealed that Stringer had intended to mail the firearm used in the shooting to an address in Kentucky. This information led to the arrest of Stringer and the other alleged participant.

Following the arrest, a search warrant was executed at Stringer’s residence. During the search, law enforcement discovered a Taurus 9mm handgun, marijuana packaged in a clear plastic bag, a black Diamondback Firearms 9mm handgun, and an ammunition box branded as Hornaday 9mm Luger.

In another interview with the female accomplice, she admitted to discussing plans to rob David of his drugs. She confirmed that the meeting was set up at Central Park, and the intention was to carry out the robbery once David arrived. Although she did not witness Stringer possessing a firearm, she was aware that he had one.

When David arrived at the park, Stringer and the female accomplice approached the driver’s side of his vehicle. Following the transaction, Stringer instructed the female accomplice to “get back.” She then heard a gunshot while she was running away from the scene towards Stringer’s home.

During a subsequent interview, the person in a relationship with Stringer informed detectives that she had taken screenshots of Stringer holding two firearms during FaceTime calls. One of the firearms reportedly belonged to David.

When authorities requested to interview Stringer, he refused to cooperate or provide any information regarding the incident. The 15-year-old female accomplice has also been arrested in connection with the case and will be tried as a juvenile.
