A South Carolina father and son duo reportedly killed a man on December 7, after he was found holding a machete, as stated by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office.

Alleged Crime and Arrests

According to official reports from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office, Ryan Lindler Sr., aged 52, instructed his 26-year-old son, Ryan Lindler Jr., to disarm their neighbor, Kevin Newhouse, who was wielding a machete, and subsequently shoot him.

The fatal shooting occurred while Newhouse was unarmed and residing in close proximity to the Lindlers. Investigations revealed that an argument had transpired between the three men, with the Lindlers allegedly preventing Newhouse from leaving and returning to his home.

The altercation was said to have been sparked by the Lindlers confronting Newhouse about a previous trespassing incident, which had taken place at a different address, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigation and Arrests

Following the incident, law enforcement officers conducted a search of the Lindlers’ truck, where both the handgun and the machete were recovered. Deputies promptly apprehended both Lindler Sr. and Lindler Jr., subsequently booking them into the Lexington County Detention Center.

The accused individuals have been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Currently, they remain in custody without bond.

Legal Perspective

Eric Bland, attorney at Bland Richter law firm representing Ryan Lindler Sr., discussed the potential legal arguments in this case. He highlighted that the defense would focus on property rights, vandalism, a history of trespassing, and the right to defend others. Bland emphasized that property owners in Lexington County, South Carolina, highly value their properties and that there is a mutual respect for one another’s properties.

Both Lindler Sr. and Lindler Jr. plan to vigorously fight the charges against them, as confirmed by their attorney in an interview with Fox News.
