Man Arrested for Gas Station Shooting in Harrison Twp.

HARRISON TWP. — Local authorities have apprehended a suspect involved in a shooting incident at a gas station earlier this year. Michael Stroud, a 28-year-old resident of Dayton, was arrested on Tuesday. He now faces charges of two counts of felonious assault and two counts of possessing weapons while under disability, as stated in the records of Vandalia Municipal Court.

The charges against Stroud are connected to a shooting incident that occurred at a gas station in Harrison Twp. in September. The victim informed the sheriff’s deputies that he was shot by an unidentified man around 4:26 a.m.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the surveillance video from the gas station captured the entire shooting incident, enabling them to identify Michael Stroud as the shooter.

A joint operation involving the R.A.N.G.E Task Force, FBI Safe Streets Task Force, and detectives from the Montgomery County Special Investigations was carried out earlier this week. The operation involved surveillance on Michael Stroud, which eventually led to his arrest at an apartment complex in Dayton. Following the arrest, he was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.

Sheriff Rob Streck emphasized the importance of collaboratively removing violent criminals from the community. He stated, “Removing violent criminals goes beyond solving cases; it’s a collective effort with local, state, and federal partners responding to calls, addressing threats, and ensuring Montgomery County remains a place where residents feel protected.”
