43-Year-Old Man Arrested in Redlands for Fatally Shooting Man in Colton

A 43-year-old man was apprehended in Redlands on Wednesday under suspicion of fatally shooting a man in Colton last week. The incident took place on December 8 in the 600 block of East C Street. The victim, identified as 38-year-old Lester Cruz, was discovered with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Cruz succumbed to his injuries and tragically lost his life.

Working diligently on the case, detectives from the Colton Police Department, in collaboration with the Redlands Police Department and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Aviation Division, successfully identified and detained the suspect, Eric Brandon Lopez, around 11:44 a.m. on Wednesday. Lopez was subsequently arrested on charges of homicide and was later booked at the West Valley Detention Center.
