Family and Friends Pay Tribute to Slain Nevada State Troopers in Las Vegas Vigil

In a heartfelt candlelight vigil held in Las Vegas, the family and friends of Alberto Felix and Michael Abatte gathered to remember the two Nevada State Highway Patrol Troopers who tragically lost their lives in a hit-and-run incident on the Las Vegas freeway. The Filipino-American Felix and Abatte were honored by the community as their images were displayed on the towering Marquee of Allegiant Stadium.

The Nevada State Highway Patrol and the Las Vegas Metro Police Department joined hands to pay their respects to their fallen comrades. The loss of Felix and Abatte has left a deep impact on the law enforcement community.

The suspect responsible for the hit-and-run that claimed the lives of Felix and Abatte has been identified as Jemarcus Williams. Williams now faces multiple charges in connection with the incident.

Expressing her grief, Minddie Lloyd, IPOF organizer, said, “It’s just devastating for anyone to lose their life due to the carelessness of one person’s decision. They will be remembered as true heroes, and their families will continue to receive our unwavering support.”

Alberto Felix was known for his dedication to his family and his compassionate nature as a colleague. He took immense pride in his job and was highly respected by his peers. C. Stuenkel of the Nevada Highway Patrol Department fondly remembered working alongside both Felix and Abatte, stating, “I was just so proud to work with both of them. It’s not every day you come across individuals who are so passionate about what they do. Trooper Felix’s determination to pursue a career in human services showcased his unwavering commitment to helping others.”

Alberto Felix was laid to rest on December 10th. Prior to joining the Nevada Highway Patrol in 2019, he served in the U.S. Air Force for over two decades. In recognition of his brave actions in the face of danger, Felix was awarded the prestigious Medal of Valor.

The entire community mourns the loss of these two dedicated state troopers. The impact they had on their colleagues and the lives they touched will be remembered for years to come.
