Man Extradited to Connecticut to Face Murder Charges in Fatal Shooting

Suspect Faces Murder and Other Charges
A man has been extradited to Connecticut to face murder and other charges in connection with a fatal shooting incident that occurred in Hartford last year. Daniel White, a 32-year-old resident of Hartford, has been charged with murder, criminal liability, and first-degree assault in the tragic killing of 25-year-old Daryl Walker from Bloomfield. The Hartford Police Department confirmed the charges.
Arrest Warrant Obtained
Following the incident, the police obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect, Daniel White. Authorities discovered that White was already in custody on unrelated charges in Virginia.
The Incident and Crash
On May 19, 2022, at approximately 10 p.m., law enforcement officers responded to a ShotSpotter notification in the vicinity of 115 Zion St. While en route, an officer traveling west on Ward Street observed a speeding vehicle approaching from the opposite direction. The vehicle crashed into a parked car and then collided with a police cruiser before ultimately crashing into the Hartford Police Substation located at 134 Affleck St.
Victims Found with Gunshot Wounds
Upon examination of the crashed vehicle, the police discovered two individuals inside who had sustained gunshot wounds. The driver, identified as Daryl Walker, was pronounced dead at an area hospital, while the passenger, a man in his 20s, was hospitalized in stable condition. The investigation revealed that both men had been shot on Zion Street, where the ShotSpotter system had detected gunfire.

Investigation and Arrest
Following the incident, the Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions initiated a thorough investigation into the shooting. Based on the evidence collected, a warrant for the arrest of Daniel White was secured.
Suspect Extradited to Connecticut
After being taken into custody on unrelated charges in Virginia, Daniel White has been extradited back to Connecticut. He is currently being held on a $1.5 million bond.
