40-Year-Old Woman Found Shot to Death in Joliet Home
JOLIET, IL — A tragic incident unfolded in Joliet on Wednesday night as a 40-year-old woman was discovered shot to death inside a residence. According to officials, a man broke a window and forced his way through the front door, leading to this horrifying slaying. Law enforcement authorities suspect that the motive behind this act of violence was “domestic in nature.”

The identity of the victim has not been revealed yet by the Will County Coroner’s Office. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities were alerted to the incident when a woman made a distress call to 911 shortly after 10:30 p.m. It was later confirmed that the victim herself had placed the call.
The caller reported that a man was forcefully attempting to enter the home. Upon arriving at the scene, the police discovered a broken window at the front of the residence. However, they believe that the suspect gained entry through the front door. Inside the house, law enforcement officers encountered a 47-year-old man, who was later identified as the suspect. The man complied with the officers’ instructions and exited the premises through the front door.
The police discovered the lifeless body of the 40-year-old victim in the bathroom. She had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Meanwhile, the suspect was transported to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center to receive medical treatment for injuries believed to have been sustained during the window-breaking incident. He remains under police supervision at the hospital, and pending charges against him are expected.
The Will County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity and provide further details about the cause of her death.
