35-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck by Vehicle in Long Beach

A tragic incident unfolded in Long Beach before sunrise on Wednesday when a 35-year-old woman lost her life after being hit by a vehicle.

The Long Beach Police Department received a report about a collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Seventh Street and Pepper Tree Lane around 5:05 a.m. on Wednesday. Officers rushed to the scene to investigate the incident.

Upon their arrival, law enforcement officials found the victim lying in the eastbound lanes of Seventh Street, west of Pepper Tree Lane. Promptly, the Long Beach Fire Department paramedics were summoned to the location, but tragically, they pronounced her dead at the scene.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner later identified the victim as Tabitha Ixchop.

During the course of their investigation, detectives uncovered that Ixchop had crossed the eastbound lanes of Seventh Street, moving northbound, outside of a designated crosswalk when the collision occurred.

According to the police, Ixchop fell into one of the traffic lanes and was subsequently struck by another vehicle. Both drivers involved in the collision acted responsibly by stopping at the scene and immediately contacting emergency services.

Authorities have determined that neither excessive speed nor distracted or impaired driving contributed to the tragic collision.
