Woman Fatally Struck by Vehicle in Tragic Accident in Long Beach

In a tragic incident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning, a 35-year-old woman lost her life after being struck by a vehicle in Long Beach.

Authorities from the Long Beach Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian collision at the intersection of Seventh Street and Pepper Tree Lane at approximately 5:05 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim lying in the eastbound lanes of Seventh Street, west of Pepper Tree Lane. The Long Beach Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene and sadly pronounced her dead.

The deceased has been identified as Tabitha Ixchop, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

During the course of the investigation, detectives found that Ixchop had crossed the eastbound lanes of Seventh Street outside a marked crosswalk before being hit by a vehicle.

After being struck, Ixchop fell into one of the traffic lanes and was subsequently hit by another vehicle. Both drivers involved in the incident stopped at the scene and immediately called 911.

Law enforcement officials have determined that neither excessive speed nor distracted or impaired driving played a role in the fatal collision.
