Two Dead, Three Injured in Highway Collision near Fort Qu’Appelle

Two people are dead and three others are left with injuries following a tragic two-car collision on Highway 10, east of Fort Qu’Appelle.

The Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP received a report of the collision on December 12, 2023, at 7:50 p.m. According to the initial investigation, two cars collided at the scene.

“The driver and sole occupant of one car was declared deceased by EMS at the scene,” stated the police. “She has been identified as an 83-year-old female from Yorkton, SK. Her family has been notified.”

The driver of the other car was also declared deceased by EMS at the scene and has been identified as a 53-year-old male from Lestock, Sask.

“His family has been notified. There were three passengers in the car,” the release read. “One was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, while the remaining two were taken to the hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.”

During the initial investigation, Highway 10 was temporarily closed but has since been reopened. The Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP continues to investigate the collision with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.

Two people have tragically lost their lives and three others have sustained injuries in a devastating two-car collision that occurred on Highway 10, located east of Fort Qu’Appelle. The incident, which happened on December 12, 2023, at 7:50 p.m., was reported to the Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the collision involved two cars. Unfortunately, the driver and sole occupant of one of the vehicles, identified as an 83-year-old female from Yorkton, SK, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. The authorities have already notified her family. Similarly, the driver of the other car, a 53-year-old male from Lestock, Sask, also succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased by EMS.

Further details reveal that there were three passengers in the second vehicle. One of them sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital, while the remaining two were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

During the course of the initial investigation, Highway 10 had to be temporarily closed for safety purposes. However, it has now been reopened. The Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP is actively investigating the collision, with the valuable assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
