The victim who tragically lost his life has been identified as 21-year-old Julian House. Business owners within the vicinity shared their surveillance camera footage with News4JAX, revealing the chilling sounds of gunshots echoing through the area.

The video footage shows one of the wounded men staggering, clutching his side, after the shots were fired. Curtis Sowell, who was present across the street at a bar and liquor store, admitted that he initially dismissed the sounds of gunfire, considering them as random gunshots.

However, not everyone reacted with the same indifference. Roxie Windgawsen, the leasing manager for the plaza where the shooting occurred, expressed her fear and concern for the well-being of the tenants. Although she was not present during the incident, she conveyed her distress at the unexpected occurrence, stating, “I’ve been here six and a half years. Something like that just doesn’t happen in our little business bubble.”

While News4JAX was filming on Wednesday afternoon, two individuals were seen placing a teddy bear and flowers at the site of the shooting. The gesture was a poignant display of sympathy, reflecting the community’s shared sorrow and questioning the necessity of resorting to violence. Windgawsen, deeply affected by the incident, expressed her empathy for the grieving parents, pondering, “Was that really necessary? Was the problem significant enough to justify taking someone’s life?”
