Mohammed Aminu, a 26-year-old serial sex offender from Nightingale Grove, Hither Green, pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual communication with a 14-year-old child. The incidents occurred on Wednesday, 22 March, when Aminu boarded a Route 181 bus in Lewisham High Street. He engaged a 14-year-old girl in conversation and later followed her from the bus, sexually assaulting her. Half an hour later, he boarded a Route 124 bus where he engaged a 16-year-old girl in conversation and also sexually assaulted her. The second victim managed to seek help upon getting off the bus when Aminu followed her to school.

Aminu’s predatory behavior continued three days later on Saturday, 25 March. He boarded a bus in Soho and sexually assaulted another victim after following them from a bus. The victims bravely reported the incidents to the police, leading to investigations being launched.

Thanks to the meticulous examination of CCTV footage from the buses, detectives quickly identified Aminu as the suspect in all of the offenses. Consequently, he was arrested on Friday, 9 May.

Strong Condemnation by Detective Sergeant Matthew Brown

Detective Sergeant Matthew Brown, from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command, expressed his strong condemnation of Aminu’s actions. He stated, “These were particularly nasty assaults on girls going to school and a further assault of an adult who was travelling home from work on a night bus. In every case, he used force against his victims.”

She expressed gratitude to the women and girls who bravely reported the incidents, as their actions were instrumental in bringing the offender to justice.

McGregor urged anyone who experiences or witnesses sexual offenses or harassment on TfL networks to report them to the police or a member of staff. She highlighted the importance of strong evidence, emphasizing that reporting incidents promptly strengthens the case against offenders.
